Resumen del proyecto:

The aim of this thematic network is to produce a new approach to the governance of fisheries and food security in developing countries, based upon interactions between different scientific disciplines and between scholars and practitioners.

It assumes that dominant paradigms insufficiently address the current crisis in fisheries. The network explores:

1) principles of governance,

2) food security and the fish chain,

3) technological innovation and control,

4) institutional tradition and renewal, and

5) multiple-use conflicts. In the course of 3-year, the network aims to realise an academic and a policy handbook; disseminate results via a teaching seminar and an information network.

In phase 1 a conceptual framework is formulated, and culminates in a general seminar. Phase 2 generates ideas on key issues at the level of working groups. Phase 3 finalises the conceptual scheme and the proposed publications.
