Resumen del proyecto:

Las Vías Verdes son antiguos trazados ferroviarios fuera de servicio rehabilitados como itinerarios no motorizados. Estas infraestructuras favorecen el cambio en la mentalidad colectiva en favor de un modelo de movilidad sostenible. Hoy se están convirtiendo en infraestructuras que vertebran el territorio y su potencial ecoturístico, suponiendo un recurso turístico en sí mismas. La información básica necesaria para su evolución son las propias de cualquier otra infraestructura de transporte, donde el tiempo empleado en el trayecto y las propiedades de su trazado son determinantes para las decisiones del usuario. Pero en este caso, al tratarse de un itinerario con contenido paisajístico y patrimonial, también se  están incorporando herramientas que permiten al usuario acceder a distintos niveles de información geográfica. En este sentido destaca el papel de las tecnologías de la información en la promoción de estas infraestructuras, especialmente las tecnologías de la información geográfica (TIG).

Rail Trails are old railway lines that are out of service and have been restored and converted into non-motorized routes. These infrastructures encourage the collective mindset to change towards a sustainable mobility model. Nowadays, they are becoming into infrastructures that underpin the territory and its ecotourism resources, being turism resource themselves. The basic information needed for its evolution are those of any other transport infrastructure, where the time spent on the course  and its layout properties are crucial for user decisions. But in this case, being a picturesque  itinerary with heritage content, some tools are also being implemented to allow the user to access different levels of geographic information. In this sense, the role of information technology in promoting these infrastructures, especially geographic information technologies, is highlighted.
