Resumen del proyecto:

The urgent need to develop commercial soybean inoculants for agronomic use to improve soybean yields in China has gone unanswered as effective inoculants for Chinese soybean cultivars are unavailable. We aim to produce high quality rhizobial inoculants for use with the soybean cultivars used in the major Chinese soybean cropping areas by isolating effective, competitive strains and developing protocols for local commercial production. Targeted fundamental studies of the best strains will underpin the applied studies, driving further improvements in the effectiveness of the strains and optimisation of their use. We expect to deliver a bilingual manual describing protocols for commercial inoculants production in China, a collection of efficient and competitive inoculants strains for local soybean cultivars, scientific results that allow us to further optimise their use, and training and exchange of expertise.
